2013 BEST ACTRESS
Cate Blanchett-Blue Jasmine
Amy Adams-American Hustle
Truly a suprise, in a good way. She took the role super seriously and the results are amazing. Maybe the best performance in her movie, and definitely the most memorable. But the best part for me were her facial expressions. Also, she finally showed us her other, sexy and wild side.
Sandra Bullock-Gravity
A performance of her career, very good psychical performance.
Judi Dench-Philomena
A very good, touching and subtle performance, in a very good film by an acting legend.
Meryl Streep-August Osage County
Speaking of legends, here is also one very good performance, maybe overacting at times, but in some scenes you could see a master-class of acting.
So, i actually agree with the nominations, we have one amazing and 4 very good, each in its own way. But, lets see now the ladies that were likely the next 5.......with very short reviews!
Adele Exarchopoulos-Blue is the warmest color
Not an out of this world performance, but a very good, brave, emotional performance by a young actress. But i do not understand why Lea didnt also get awards attention. She was also really good.
Brie Larson-Short Term 12
There is something special about this performance. It is brilliantly acted by a newcomer. Breaktrough performance of the year. Strong 4.5!
Julie Delpy-Before Midnight
Julie is electrifying here and soo real here, as she was in other two BEFORE movies. Great work.
Emma Thompson-Saving Mr. Banks
I really didnt like the film, def. the worst of the nominees and unnominees, but Emma still gives her all in this performance. Unbelievably phenomenal work. Very, very strong 4.5!
Greta Gerwig-frances Ha
Although i liked the film, i found her not that interesting and a little lost. Good work, but nothing special.
A really strong year, with again one AMAZING (Blanchett), five very strong performances (Adams, Adele, Thompson, Larson and Bullock), 3 very good (Delpy, Dench, Streep) and 1 (Gerwig) that is also great, but others were a lot better. So here are mine TOP FIVE!
